We met on Zoom, following a break as we adjusted to the limitations due to Covid-19. We remembered those who have died through knife crime in our communities and heard about the work of Twilight and his team, working in Wandsworth to address youth violence.
Twilight and his colleague, Hakim, represented Pathways to Progress (P2P), an initiative working directly with those affected and at risk from youth violence. Twilight Bey gave a presentation of the way that P2P works, with a variety of projects and programmes, and which draw on his own experience of growing up within the gang culture in Los Angeles and 15 years working to reduce youth violence in London.
It was encouraging to hear of the proactive steps being taken by the P2P team, as well as practical advice on how to help keep young people safe.
